EPCOT 1: October 8, 1982
Introduction in the Contemporary on the 3rd and 4th floor.
We board monorails to Epcot.
I tape record Space Ship Earth "Who are we? Where did we come from? We go through prehistoric times, ancient ships on sea, the Greeks, Rome, a fire smell, speaking difficulties, extra extra read all about it, technology things like circuits, a time warp tunnel, mirrors, computer circuits, mirrors, we go down to the end in about 15 minutes.
We are in Communicore - I tape a recording of "The Story if the Amazing Micro-chip," brief history, its use its efficiency, and an explanation of the chip.
I tape record the World of Motion - a sailboat, the invention of the wheel and new inventions with the wheel (chariots, etc.) Columbus times, balloon flying, steamtrain and stagecoach, big boat, ferry boat, pioneer time, trains, bicycle and unicycle, car age, traffic jam, airplane age, (if you had wings setting), we fly and ride the rapids, spaced out, black hole, dream city, mirrors of shuttles (haunted mansion).
Aerodynamic in planes and cars, wind tunnel research helps this.
We are in the German Pavilion, I tape a loud German song but the tape recorder is having slight taping difficulties. I tape a yodel song.
The tape has big difficulties and it is hard to hear the loud Colonial songs in their march down liberty street. The Mexican music didn't record.
I tape a German accordion player outside the German Pavilion.
A closing from Epcot -- difficulties and the Japanese man.
EPCOT 2: October 9, 1982
Introduction at Polynesian Village, parents eat at golf course.
I tape the monorail ride to Epcot which introduces us to Epcot.
Craig and I go on The Land, a boat ride with a tour guide. "Listen to the Land" -- tropical rain forest, our country's agriculture, controlled environmental agriculture, real plants, all are eatable, controlled light, real fish, outdoor desert plants, wheat and rye, plants grow in one foot of sand, plants grow in air, artificial gravity, very educational "Listen to the Land."
I tape record "Magic Journeys" in Journey into Imagination. Children playing around, looking at clouds and imagining. Everything looks 3-D, birds come right to you, pool of fish, flying, we are on a merry-go-round and a ring is in mid-air as if we can reach for it, a wicked witch throws 3-D lightning bolts right at us and the audience is scared, I stopped tape in the middle of the show so that I could tape other things.
I tape record Universe of Energy, first there is a brief introduction with authentic happenings. The audience's seats then move on a path toward a dark prehistoric time with dinosaurs, actual size and atmosphere and sounds, we saw real volcanoes erupting, then there was a conclusion that explained what we saw and how we were able to move, then a final movie on the big screens teaching about energy conservation, Trans-Alaska pipeline.
